did you read about the break-in period for your engine? Mine was already broken in when I got it but from what I understand there are limits to how fast you can go, rpms etc. I don't have the manual but I think on most new bikes its on a sticker on the speedo.

yeah like I said I knew there were "break-in" limits ..didn't know what. I know that some of the people on here adhere to the rules and some don't....I'm glad mine was already broken in when i got it....it was JUST over the break in period I thank the Motorcycle Gods for that one!

Don't put too much emphasis on the whole 4k limit. This is an old subject. Don't go redlining it all the time while it's new, but after about 100 miles and an oil change, you can start riding it a "little" more aggressively than 30MPH. vary your bike between 35 to 40 until you get to the 500 mile mark. after your 500 mile tune-up, there is nothing wrong with the occasional 8-12k revs as long as you don't have your bike under a hard load, and don't keep it there for very long.

and change your oil lots and lots

stay away from synthetics untill she is well broken in, but you can never change it enough when running in

when you do change the oil, put some on a piece of plastic and look at it in the sun. It's amazing how much ring & bore material is present..
