So come to realize (i feel like an idiot for this) but i bought a bike with a bent swingarm. It took me a minute to realize it was twisted, it rides almost perfect but the chain clatters and during hard breaks it veers to the right. I finally jacked it up to replace the front tire, which was wearing to one side majorly, and decided to tear off all the plastics to find my problem. Lone and behold my rear tire is almost 2 inches off center (to the left) of my subframing. I purchased a used swingarm and am in the process of replacing my bent one. I can probably assume that this is the reason my chain tighten and loosens simutaniously. What other damage could i look for while my bike is torn apart?
If the chain was misaligned 2 full inches, you really think that it would not have jumped ship and jammed and cracked the case? That is a lonnnng ways out of line not to notice and verify if the chain is maintained.
edit: if this happens to be true on the 2 inches out of alignment.....Mental Note on pwi (Mr Magoo)

yea well now that the swingarm is off, i can tell that it is exactly 1 1/4 inches bent to the left. The previous owner obviously new it was messed up because the rear tire was aligned to face the bike directly, not aligned to the front tire, explains why the front tire is wearing tremendously on one side.
Is it still reccomended to change my chain and sprockets, which neither seen to be visably worn?
I think there has been maybe 15 miles put on the bike since it was crashed.
On a different note, what bearings am i going to need to replace with this new swingarm?
I am brand new to street bikes so I really dont know much about this stuff....just dirtbikes

I would start fresh with new chain, sprockets and bearings. The chain is obviously not running aligned if there is that much of a bend. And, the impact would have surely damaged the bearings too. I would change it all to be on the safe side.

oem swing arm bearings would do the trick when you get your new swingarm. Double check your axle straightness at the same time and may as well replace the rear wheel bearings and double check the cush drive too. Something that crooked really wears things out. Good luck on the fix.

Eeeek, sorry to hear about the swingarm. Don'tcha just love honest sellers?
Agree^ (remember that car with the bent frame) stuff wears out FAST when it's doing something other than intended. Replace as much as you can; eliminate surprises. Most importantly, TAKE YOUR TIME and do it right.
