Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot, but I'm new here and didn't find a place for zr1100's in the model specific area.

I have a 1993 zr1100 "Zephyr" with about 30,000 miles on it and when I'm riding it and i shift into 2nd gear, as soon as I let out the clutch it pops back into first. i remember reading something about this being a common problem on these bikes a while back, but I don't remember where. If anyone can help tell me what I'm looking at to fix this I would greatly appreciate any info.

 

Welcome to KF. Is it only 2nd? and are you doing a solid shift into 2nd? what does your manual list as a possible issue? If you recall where that read was, let us know. Good luck.

 

The only thing my book says is change fluid. It pops out of second (only second) the instant the clutch starts to grab. If i shift through second it runs great. Second gear is just gone. If i shift into second gear at any speed any rpm it kicks directly back into first.

 

Then you have the answer my friend. the shift fork is bent most likely.

 

Thanks for the help. I've searched around the site here and on the web and it doesn't seem like the parts are going to be real easy to get here in the US. I've dealt with local dealers a couple of times for other parts and I would prefer not to go back to them. Any suggestions where I might find parts? Thanks again for your time and help.
