Default 1993 KDX 250 will not idle

Hey guys,

Got a problem with my bike.

Went out of town to go ride around a little bit Sunday. Got out there early and started it up cuz i was looking at the seal between the exhaust port and head pipe (it would puff out a bit of smoke when it first started till it got warm). So i had a new set of "o" rings and springs with me so i swapped em out ( i say swapped but there were no old rings in the grooves when i popped the pipe off). when i put everything back on it wouldnt idle for nothin. i noticed that you can still see the edge of one of the rings like it didnt seat all the way up in there. Would just that make it run like this? Also noticed the plug is getting a little wet so i know whatevers causing that isnt helping. Just seeing if i could get any info on my problem. I've already blown the carb out (gonna try a night soak in cleaner though). Any other ideas?

wont have a chance to do it until this weekend. My buddy tried cleaning with his compressor but after i put it back on it would still die unless you kept popping the throttle to keep it running. It just seems so coincidental that i kicked it first try when we got ther, shut it off, put those new orings on real quick and then blehh it doesnt want to idlea ll of the sudden. It runs like a scalded dog if you get it in gear and keep on riding though so thats why im stumped.

yeah, the coincidental thing happens though. Sucks,may need to check the exhaust valves for sticking since the exhaust is what you were messing with to start this coincidence. After you reinstall the carb and get to test it this coming weekend.

@Dragone#19

Doesnt it though lol, yea i'll start with looking at my exhaust area i was messing with. i know these smokers have a temper unless that exhaust is sealed up 100%.

You just got me thinking. Those exhaust valves are right in front of where that exhaust slide in if im correct. and they shouldnt be showing or sticking up when the throttle is closed? now i wish i took a picture of my view down the port.

Check the boots to the carb make sure something didn't get folded over and is sucking air.
