1978 kl250
Hello everyone! I have a parts question. I am restoring (to ride) a 1978 Kawasaki KL 250. I have been searching everywhere for a "carb holder"' or "intake flange" , what it is called depends on who I ask it seems.
Mine is cracked and not trustworthy. Even an after market suggestion would be acceptable.
I have tried Bike Bandit, Parts Traders, Partszilla and many Kawasaki hard to find parts places.
Thank you in advance for any help!

If you are talking about the one that bolts on the cylinder, there is an alternative if you can get a chunk of round aluminum big enough to suit the bolt pattern of the intake and have the machining done low buck. It was what we did to adapt Mikuni carbs to our Bultacos.
You machine a spigot flange from the aluminum. The spigot part is machined to the ID and OD of the carb. The flange is drilled to bolt on the bike, then cut down a bit to suit. Then get a radiator hose of the appropriate with enough length where it would slide on the radiator inlet to size and cut to make a collar to clamp on the carb and on the new intake you just made to join them together. Good stainless hose clamps work best. Make the spigot long enough to have the carb positioned where it should be for the air box or whatever.

Ha! You are a genius. I would have never thought of that. It is just about the same as on my old skidoo, an aluminum intake mainfold with a rubber collar joining the carb and engine.
Thank you for the suggestion!

Try this place. I sent them an old carb holder and they setup to make them. I got one from them and it is perfect. I don’t remember for sure but I think it was about $35, very reasonable..
