I wouldn't make a habit of hitting the rev limiter. Most of the torque and hp are below the rev limit normally anyhows. The neutral question? On your up shifts to 2nd, downshifts to 1st or in between other gears?

Was the issue with your regular boots or did you change to another boot? At the moment if everything is the same,you need to make a decisive shift. Rider input

+1 I was hitting neutral a lot when I was first on my 636. On the rev limiter I would set the shift light to 12K you hit peek HP at 11.5K. The clicking I can only guess is your valves chattering, this should not be a problem, mine dose it too.

You are correct, you did not mention your riding gear. If the riders shifting input is not precise, than false neutrals can happen. ie lazy on the shifts, new gear (my issue at the moment) can cause a false neutral. That is why my comment/question. I do not know of the click sound that you are mentioning.
