Yeah thats the only way i can describe it. when taking off, it feels like it's kicking, like maybe skipping links on the chain.. it seemed a little loose so I tightened it up. going to ride it tommorow see if that works. anyone else got any thing else? I know i kind of described a problem, and fixed it (hopefully). but we will see. Is that what a loose chain will do? My teeth on my sprokets looked good, back one was changed out.... last summer. just some good input. thanks

A kinked or binding chain will feel like that "kicking" as well. (Never over tighten a chain) as mentioned because then your bearings and suspension will suffer. Sounds like a new chain, CS and Rear sprocket is in order.

Well the rear sproket looks ok.. Not sure how to tell if I need a new chain, no stiffness was noted. It def was a little loose, that and when I went to loosen the axle bolt, it was loose, so I think it came back a little. I tightened and it didn't kick at all on the way to work.. worndering if I tightened to much, i mean when I moved it with my hand, there wasn't to much tension, but it sounded like something was rubbing this moring on my way to work. Maybe the tire is croocked? and the rear brake disk is hitting the caliper? Haven't had time to reinvestigate, will though when I get home. thanks for the input.

You can eyeball the chain riding on the rear sprocket to test your rear wheel alignment.
Most of the rides say to have about 33mm at the most for chain slack. I generally keep it just shy of that measure on my rides to enable the suspension to work fully and not cause any binding. You mentioned a loose axle. That is not good. Sounds like a good inspection with your torque wrench and hand tools are in order. Enjoy reading up the required info in your service manual.

always a good reminder is to clean & lube your chain every 500 miles, also inspect both sprockets for broken teeth or wear, also i like to have about a inch play in my drive chain, not to tight & not to loose either, you want it in the middle

ryda, u seem to know way to much. lol.. its all good. Yeah I actually think my chain needs to be changed. Its only been changed once, and I think i actually have a total of around 30000 miles on my bike. so prolly about time. the sproket looked good though.

How many miles on that chain and the sprockets? I would change them if your not sure. And make sure you do both. If you leave the sprockets on and just change the chain, the new chain will not last very long.
