Hey, Just bought a 01 ZX6R (ZZR Now) w/ 7,000 miles. Look it over well before I bougt it. Has a Bolt on Muzzy Carbon Fiber Can. Started and reved good and clean. I took it home and rode it the next day. Bike runs great when you are riding normal. When you open her up she boggs down in the mid range and pulls hard once I get to about 9000 - 13000 RPMs. When I roll on the throttle exiting a corning I have to drop down to a grear to keep it from boggin down. I was wondering if you think it's dirty carbs, or needs a jet kit for the Bolt on Muzzy Can? It seems like any sudden twist of the throttle it boggs down for a split second. Let me know What you guys think before I drop 500.00 in getting it jetted.

I'd bet my left nut its an Air-to-Fuel ratio problem

 

How cold is it where you are? (when riding)

Have you taken the tank off recently?

 

I Live in northern IL. I been riding in 39 to 40 deg weather.

 

I'm thinking it's a fuel to air ratio problem to. I was thinking, putting in a Dyno Jet kit and a K&N filter would smoth it out. I wish I had the time to do it myself. I got the entire service book on a cd rom, but I'm in the Army and have no time to work on it.

 

shim the needles .5mm if you know that the synchronization is good.

 

Was it rejeted? Sounds like the jets are a little to big dumping to much fuel at a fast responce. Does it do it if you ease into the throttle?

 

Good point, I was assuming stock needles.

 

Mine does the same thing below around 45 degrees, thats why the injected bikes are nice.
