Zrx1100
I have the chance to buy a 2000 ZRX1100 for about $1600. However it has 55,000 miles on the odometer. Is this alot? The owner says it runs great and is in good condition. Is that a decent price?

Tell us more about the bike, and more about the owner. Does the bike look like it's been maintained? Did the owner tour with it or use it for "test and tune" at the local drag strip? (You get the point.) Owner look responsible? Any other bikes sitting in his garage? What does his GARAGE tell you? Post some pics. We'll give it the eyeball...

I ride a 2000 ZRX 1100, love it. I agree with bigninjaryda11, price seems low. If you haven't already ask about service records. With 55k on the odometer it will have needed maintenance, especially, valve and cam chain adjustments. Tires and primary drive chain should have been long replaced by now. If all checks out - buy it.
Fun bike to ride but can be a bit buzzy on the hands and feet because of the steel frame - awesome in town commuter though - great riding position. Essentially it's a ZX11 motor with a different cam so it has more low end and mid-range power, I literally can ride all day in 3rd gear, including the freeway. Although, there have been times I wish it had a 6th gear. Do be warned about that low end torque, if the roads are at all slick, roll the power gently or the tail will be where you don't want it. In the dry it is indeed a wheelie machine, and/or a rocket off the line. A much different ride than your ZX10. Hope the deal works out. Ride safe.

I'd have it checked out by a Kaw shop, pay the money and do it. Find out about maintenance. You have to figure it couldn't have had too many issues getting 55,000 miles. At $1600 it sounds like a great buy, it's all because everyone is afraid of the miles. Shoot, my 650 has 45,000 miles on it running great and I would not sell it for $1600! Heck you could probably spend another grand on work if you wanted and still be good. I wish I'd run across a deal like that when I want a bike. As for buzziness, if it's at a specific rpm range like my 550, you can change the sprockets to get the bike out of the buzzy rpm if it's at a speed you use a lot. My bike buzzes at roughly 3800-4000 and 5900-6100 rpm. A one tooth larger countershaft sprocket puts 55 and 65 far enough away from those areas.
