tires
i was just wondering how long tires usually last on your bike? i'm getting my first street bike in the next little bit and already have a couple trips planned/ in the works also, if i do a cross country trip will i have to switch out my tires when i'm on the road? canada's pretty big and i have a trip to michigan in summer which i plan on taking my bike to and another trip out pretty much as far. if we get the meet and greet together for the kf forum then i'll be going pretty much to detroit and down to florida, and i'm also planning on coming to the sept. races/camping trip. will i have to buy new ones while i'm out and about?
thanks

RE: tires
depends sooo much on which tires, and how its used.
the harder rubber will last a lot longer, but won't grip quite as nice. I'm running batlax's right now and they seem to have pretty good life to em.

RE: tires
im running dunlop Q's and averaging about 6 thousand miles on them. except this weekend i ran over a razor blade and slashed my rear tire open[:@]that makes the third tire in 9 months.

RE: tires
so how much do tires cost on a general spectrum? same as car/truck tires anything from 100-500 lol. i know i won't br trying any burnouts and wheelies anytime soon lol, maybe when the group gets together and someone that knows how to stunt can actually teach me how to do it the right way.

RE: tires
you may also want to consider some sport touring tires since you'll be putting so many miles on and may have to run through rain. they should last longer and shet water better.
i think you can expect to pay about 200 for a set of tires mounted and balanced out the door.

RE: tires
or i could get one set of every kind of tire for all the weather lol, j/k
was thinking about taking a non biker friend on a couple road trips so i can bring my truck in case the weather is bad, then i can put the baby in the back of the truck and cover her up, if the sitch calls for it. or i can ride when i want to and not have to worry about finding my truck in some crazy town's import lot lol
200 is good. thought it would be way more.

RE: tires
of course i'm thinking in american dollars - i know the canadian dollar is pretty close now but i don't know if the stores up there have caught up. might be cheaper to get tires while in the US
