My opinion is if you sold the KLX for more power you are not going to be impressed with the 15% or so more that the WRR will give you. The WRR has more than a stock KLX (though about the same torque) but you certainly wont be blown away.
I'm just challenging the notion I see some people have of "out growing" a 250 and so moving up to a 260. You don't need to find something between a 250 & 450 for instance - I don't think anyone falls in the category of a 250 being too weak/boring for them but a 450 being over their head if you know what I mean?
I'm not a big KTM fan, but I would say the 450 EXC rides as nice, also has a nice wide tranny, is actually a bit lighter with more hp and torque (certainly enough to notice). BUT it can't compete with the KLX reliability wise and ease of maintenance.
You might notice the power difference of a DR400 that's opened up. It will hang with the KLX reliability wise but you'll also notice the lack of 6th gear and the extra 15 lbs or so.
Please tell me someone if I'm wrong but I don't think there exists any bike for any price that is significantly more powerful than the KLX, is as maintenance free/reliable, no heavier, and rides as nice on and off road.
Along with bleedinGreen I'm thinking the 351 is about the closest; A well built yamaha WR290R might also be a "noticeable" difference in power while keeping all the benefits of the KLX250.
At the same time I know there are guys out there who take the lid off their airbox and their jaw absolutely drops with the absolutely amazing power gains they experience. I guess my butt dyno isn't fine tune'd enough to notice It thinks "about 10ish hp" or "20ish hp"

Yeah when the shop did mine I showed up to pick up the bike and the mechanic handed me the stock exhaust and the air box lid and said "'you wont need these anymore" Some people complain that the air intake noise is loud, well with the Muzzy I can't even hear it. Seriously though the power difference from stock to modded with jetting, the pipe and 13-45 gears is unbelievable!!! Here is the comparrison. My wife has a 2006 XT225 and when I ride her bike its like riding a moped compared to my bike. For real.
