The Army alone is losing approximately 30 sportbike riders every single month.

Brian aka OD is now a sportbike instructor for the Air Force. He went through training this spring.

Hey that is cool, a lot of foos in the military get bikes and need instruction so they do not go out and do something stupid. That's well spent $$$ for sure.

Hows life DG?

Sheit you could get free instruction from me anytime. lol

all is good here and glad to hear that you and od are doing well.

A lot of guys and gals come back from the desert with a lot cash in the bank and it is easy form them to drop the 10k on a bike. It's a good move for travis to make an instruction class mandatory. They should work with the MSF, hell Brian could probably get MSF instructor certified and be giving that class to them.

They are already required to take the MSF...and Brian is teaching Sportbike Instruction only....its a much better course for sportbike riders...the AF actually hired a team of racers to develop this course...and Brian is lucky enough to be an instructor and has been offered Master Instructor...so he can teach others how to instruct...sweet huh.

Awww NS I'd take lessons from you anyday!

Yup, it's me, the new guy startingcrap and bursting bubbles. Here comes the contraversial post of the week. Track riding and street riding are two different things period. I can site several for instances and shoot down just about evey argument you may submit, but the bottom line is this, if you ride on the street like you do on the track, you will die..... and if you ride on the track like you ride on the street you run the risk of hurting yourself and others. There is practiclly nothing to learn on the track that you can take to the street besides perhaps trusting your tires, and THAT'S an entirely different conversation. I thinks it's awesome that someone is offering a "sport bike" class, whatever that is, but when you get down to it, you don't ride a sport bike any different than you do any other bike...while on the street. If you are riding your sportbike differently than, say, aGoldwing, (while on the street) you're more than likely doing something illegal and/ordangerous.Track riding is for going fast, it's not called a race track for no reason and there's a reason why all race tracks (the ones I know) require glass to be taped up or removed, mirrors taped or removed, no brake lights, and ALL proper gear. To continue my shamless plug and selfish justification and rationalizing track riding, IT IS the safest place to ride in the world...think about it...everyone is headed in the same direction and no cross traffic. Theres a person on every corner to let you know if theres any danger ahead of you Theres no waiting for an ambulance, it's already there. Oh and you can go 162 MPH without the PoPo messin' with you. My .02

Oh one last thing, rear brake? There's a rear brake on this thing? Really?

Military has it mandatory that we have to take the msf course before we could even get on a bike, most of us dont really go by it, but if u want to take ur bike on base u will have to have the msf course done. I like that they made it mando do to the fact that alot of peeps think its just get on a bike and bam u know it all, msf gives the beginners alot of nice tips on what to look out for.

I agree with most of your reply Ybslow. And No, you are not bursting any bubbles. I totally agree with the aspect of this statement "if you ride on the street like you do on the track, you will die..... and if you ride on the track like you ride on the street you run the risk of hurting yourself and others."

I do not agree with this statement though, "There is practiclly nothing to learn on the track that you can take to the street besides perhaps trusting your tires, and THAT'S an entirely different conversation."

Because I happen to have learned the basics of fine tuning suspension and knowing my abilities on the track, that has been a great gain in knowledge for using on the street. Does not mean that I want to drag knee or anything, that is where control (physical and mental) comes into play. That is also learned on the track. A person can learn either way, just depends on how that person wants to use it.

Yes, the track is so much safer than the streets.

And yes, I use both front and rear braking techniques on the track along with throttle control and body position.

I respect your reply. Not to far off agreement there. I will tell you this much, you can gather info however you want, track school, MSF or 50 years of riding, but a squid is a squid. I hate squids.
