Default Motorcyclist signals

I've been riding dirtbikes and such for years but being 18 I just started riding on the street not too long ago. Yesterday I was riding home from Queens on the Long Island Expressway in heavy traffic, and another motorcycle came up next to me and the guy started making all these hand signals. I couldn't understand what he was trying to tell me, and after a few tries he gave up and continued on lane splitting. I didn't follow out of fear of getting a ticket within 6 months of my road test, and because my bike is still within the break in period so I can't take off too fast.

But can anyone give me a run down of common motorcyclist hand signals? I knew they existed, just hadn't encountered them and taken the time to learn them.

Not a clue, I only do the low wave to on coming bikers, but I wonder if he was deaf. Don't mix up gang signs for American Sign Language.

Thats what I thought as well. Maybe it was some sort of "you look like a noob...I'm a noob too...lets party" signal

I think the one with the middle finger extended means he really likes your bike.

1.a tapping motion on the top of the head means COPS are around close.
2.one leg thrown out means gravel or debris in the road way.
those are the ones i know that are universal everywhere.....
