Motorcycle break in period
I found this article that totally contradicts the break in period of all motorcycles. Do you guys believe this or is this just crazy or what.

RE: Motorcycle break in period
as far as break in goes, you will get a lot of different opinions, but i wouldnt worry too much about break in.... some people break it in the way kawasaki wants you too, and some break it in hard... i chose to break it in hard and couldnt be happier. i took mine to like 10k right within the first 20 or so miles. i think the reason that kawi says to keep it under 4k is because of new riders and they dont want them to kill themselves right off the bat. basically what im tryin to say, is dont worry about going over 4 or 5k, it will not hurt it. the MOST important part of the break in, is to regulate your rpms... also, some people like to change their oil before the scheduled 600 mile service, personally i dont feel that it is necessary, but if it makes you sleep better at night, then by all means change it at like 100 miles and then again at 600 and then your good for another 2500 - 3000k. dont go to synthetic right away either

RE: Motorcycle break in period
from what I understand the break in is all about setting the valves correctly. If you break to bike in too hard the it's not good for the bike but if you break it in too soft it is not good either. I went with a buddy of mine to pick up a new 07 zx10. He got the bike for 9999.00 out the door since he knew the owner of the shop. The owner said break in is improtant because you can screw yp your bike. He said you basically just ride the bike conservativly for the first 600 miles, normal riding just don't gun it. After 600 miles you change theoil and the filter. He said there are chips in the Kawis that will tell the manufacturer if the bike was broken in properly. Since my buddy knows thebike shopowner I don't think he would lie to him.

RE: Motorcycle break in period
i like the "tough love" break in.. never failed for me!!
did rings and a piston on a KX 80 once... the bore had to be replaces.. lookd (along with the piston) like someone took a sawzall to it!!!!!
did the 3 run partial load, 3/4 load, and 100% load at a buddy's house with an uber- field, and the bike was stupid fast, and the owner was surprised at how a small dirtbike from 1984 could bring the wheel up in 3rd just by rolling on it!!!!
