+1 to that knivez.

I heard not to long ago that they are trying to pass legislation that will prevent insurance companies from prorating rates based on your zip code. Here in southern cali they will do that. When I moved from Mira Mesa 92126 to escondido 92026 my rates went up $40.00 a month despite the fact that I cut my daily commute milage in half. The insurance companies use accident/theft/claims data for specific areas to quote rates, despite the fact that I have a spotless record. What a rip-off.

When i bought my 05 636 i already had a 96 zx6. I quoted the price chang over the internet and they said it would only raise my insurance $500 to add another bike to the policy. Once i actually took the VIN number in to my local agent bamm My insurance went up to $2,500 for the first year. (Progressive) I sold the 96 and now my insurance for this year was $900 just for the 636. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the 25 yr old discount next year. Plus a reckless driving ticket will drop off my record.

i just got word from AAA today that at the end of the year they are going ahead with the change, so no longer will you get f...ed based on where you live..... the guy at AAA gave a great example of what was an outrage.... people with great driving records in the San Fernando Valley were paying a $h!t more money for insurance then some convicted drunk drivers in Santa Barbara.... where the hell was the justice in that!!!

anyways, they will have more info in November and will go in effect sometime at the end of this year..... YES!!! Refund check for me!!!!

-----------------------

Also, you guys should check out that site I posted and run yourself a quote - it takes less then 5 minutes and maybe will be worth checking into!!! That is def. the place I will be getting my insurance from for the bike!!!

Someone that already has insurance through other companies should try their quote with all the same deductibles and limits to see how different they are, would be a good copmareson type a thing......

Yo Kali,

I'm in the same area - did you go with Bikeline for insurance? Gotta get a better rate - there's track parts to buy!

I have had car insurance from Gieco for quite some time, and called them up just a bit ago to get quotes on both bikes...

2002 zx7: 25k/50k/500deduct $452/yr
100k/300k/500deduct $667/yr

1998 ZX9: 25k/50k/500deduct $464/yr
100k/300k/500deduct $695/yr

Only downside is that it is yearly only, not 6 mos like their car policies...

That is who I will be going with!!!
My friend went with them when he got his new bike.... and he was the one that recommended them......

Someone here should still get a quote on line to compare their rate to theirs to see what's up.....

But I don't think you can beat them.... considering the biggest thing is the experience for most insurance companies and they take dirt-bike experience so it's all good for me!!!
