I should be dead...

RE: I should be dead...
Man, I'm glad your OK. I had a Mustang pull out in front of me , and then hit his breaks. I could feel my rear tire hopping. All I could do was nail my anemic horn, and yell in my helmet. I could see the guy look in his rear view mirror with a "what" look on his face. Yes I'm still pissed. Anyway hope you heal up quickly AzzDawg.

Yo AD, glad you're OK man. There's always more bikes, don't lose hope or stop riding -- live and learn I guess. Damn good advice to just always be aware and try to give yourself that space cushion whenever you can.
I always ride with a helmet, and when it's cold some gloves, pants, non-padded/armored jacket... but I think I'll be buying some riding pants, gloves, jacket and some better boots this year because I'd rather have my life than $500. Thanks for the reminder. Stay safe everyone.

Gloves are not for keeping your hands warm. They are for keeping your fingers attached. The only time I put my bike down was the one time I was not wearing gloves, just because I was only going down the block from my gf's house to get a sammich. I crested the top of a hill with my front brakes on, because I knew that just on the other side of the hill there was a stop sign. However - the city of Marquette chose to tear up the road starting at the crest and lay down gravel for re-paving. So - I hit that at 30 and decellerating. Bike went one way, I went another... and guess what I used to break my fall?
Yep. My hands. My BARE hands. In gravel. At 30.
Have you stopped wincing yet? I spent the next 3 hours in the ER getting rocks dug out of my hands by a couple nurses with tweezers. This was... *thinks*... 14 years ago. In my left hand you can still see a small speck of gravel under the skin, and in my right hand you can still see some of the damage that was done to the meat under the skin.
Yes - getting road rash anywhere is gonna suck, and permanent injury to something like your legs is horrible, especially if you were to lose a foot or something.
BUT... your very livelihood is threatened if you lose the use of your hands. Even in a wheelchair, you can still do a lot of stuff. But if you don't have your hands and your fingers... you can't do a whole hell of a lot.
With that... my philosophy is to ride naked if you must... but never, ever ride without a helmet and gloves.

Thanks for the well wishes guys, and srobak i do agree, but from now (when i get my new bike) i will be wearing full protective clothing on the bike at all times. That includes gloves. It sucks to hear that your still having repercusions from something that happened 14 yrs ago. And i have decided i will be getting the new 2007 ZX6R soon as i can.
