All lanes have been reopened on northbound Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland after a fatal motorcycle crash had blocked lanes for about an hour and a half this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 4 a.m. on the highway just south of Fifth Avenue, according to CHP Officer Marc Johnston.
The motorcyclist died at the scene of the crash and the Alameda County coroner's bureau is at the scene, Johnston said.
All four lanes of northbound traffic on Highway 880 were stopped just south of 29th Avenue for about a half hour. A Sig-alert was issued at about 4:10 a.m., and the far left lane reopened at about 4:40 a.m, Johnston said.
The other three lanes were reopened and the Sig-alert was canceled at about 5:35 a.m. after authorities cleared the roadway, according to CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano.

Sometimes all the gear in the world will not save you from a bad decision if the impact is violent enough..
