HOW SHOULD A HELMET FIT?

HOW SHOULD A HELMET FIT?
I recently ordered a helmet online. I followed the measurements that were posted for that brand. I have the helmet now. But how do i know if it is a good fit. I ordered a small, which is snug but not tight. But the base of the helmet is about even w/ the bottom of my jaw bone. Is this right? I dont want to be riding and ( heaven forbid) something bad happens and i dont have a helmet that fits right. Thanks for the help

k, sounds like you ordered something before you tried it on. So basically you had no clue at the moment that a large or a med. would fit you lets say? hmm, I am a loss for words at the moment.

This is my 1st helmet, i dont know of bike shops in the area to go try some on, thats why i went by the size chart. Everyone has to start out somewhere and i just happened to start out this way. Do you have any advice? Whats a good fitting helmet fit like?

Well, I prefer a brain pan to fit snug. I wear glasses, so my glasses have to fit. I like the cheeks to be snug. Snell (sp)numbers will have to meet in what you are planning to do. A color choice is nice for the helmet, that is a bonus. Ventilation is a main concern.
Basically, if you are not comfy with it, send it back.

well since you have the helmet... the place you got it from may not take it back.... most stores don't for helmets... so anyway you'
ve tried it and it fits snug.... well then thats a good sign.... if you put your hand on th front of the helmet and you could shake the helmet around and your head is not bouncing around inside then your ok... as far as your jaw bone lining up with the bottom of the helmet.... you have nothing to worry about... my helmet is the same way... i have an HJC, what kind of helmet do you have? hope this helped... send a pic if you can...

As long as it fits snug, but not cutting off circulation to your brain, or bouncing all over the place you should be fine. If you'r not use to wearing helmets it might feel to snug at first but you'll get use to it. Beleive me when your doing anything over 80mph and you go to look behind you it doesnt feel good to have it shift around. Good luck with your choice.
