how to: reduced rear Hugger
hey folks,
Just bought a 2008 kawi ninja 650r lime green, and the dealer said something about european style, clean look, etc, he also told me most riders will modify the rear mudguard (i beilive its called a Hugger, correct me if im wrong). I'm sure he would of either told me how, or done it for me, but my dad was with me at the time. i needed his truck/ trailer. (MN state trooper, who is VERY aware of moving violations such as modifications to such a safety device), so my efforts to have a ubiquitous ninja where thwarted. To you other 650r's out there, did you remove the entire (cheap black plastic piece) mud guard, and mount the lights somehow on the body, or did you just cut off the protruding flap? thanks for your time, and other other suggested modifications to stock ninja's would be nice too.
thanks!

The hugger is under that, directly over the tire. That is just a mudflap...I don't know about the 650s, but on mine I removed some, then cut the rest off. The turn signals are integrated into the tail light. Your old man would probably really hate that though

ill upload a pic, and thanks everyone that welcomed me to the forums. I was just going to get a answer to my question, then disappear, but you all seem nice and knowledgeable,
anyone familiar with MN laws for modifications of stock components on motorcycles?

naw, i wanna cut the thing off. i just don't know it there is a standard ubiquitous way to do it. Like for example, a much more conservative piece of hardware to hold a reflector, and a license plate. i don't need and of the mudflap, and having reflector and L.P. is mandatory, but i really just want a clean look under the rear seat...
