Yoman, I feel ya on that one. My 1st experience with losing a young friend was a couple years ago. A 20 year old friend of ours, in the military, whole life ahead of him...talked us into searching out his 1st bike. We went with him, my husband rode it back for him cause he didn't really know how. He left for training in MS, came back, took the MSF class, and passed it. He rode for about 6 months before he wrecked on a familiar road. Construction on the road and too much throttle was most likely the cause, but he was totally geared up. The ditch and the trees were not so forgiving and his mother didn't want him to have that bike, but it was ultimately his decision. Ya never know when that day will come, just be safe, learn the machine and respect the machine. Keep your head on a swivel and always ride at your comfort level. Parents usually know best. We get on your nerves, but we just love our babies...it's hard to say no to some things, but even harder to say yes, and know it should a been a no.

I try! Unfortunately (cliche') there is no How To book for parenting. The good ones just try their best to make the right decisions and hope that we teach our youngsters todo the right thing so when we are gone, they can make it out there.

Just try to remember one thing... your parents worry about you, and they are doing what they feel is right to keep you safe. That's really what it all boils down to. I was lucky enough to grow up with parents that both ride. I ride, my wife rides, and when my boys get older, they will probably ride too. However, I had to deal with it in a different way, because my parents ride Harleys, and forbid me to get a sport bike. I got one when I was 21, and they accepted it. Now they are trying to talk me out of getting another one. It's not that they don't trust me, but even with my high risk career and love of taking my car to the drag strip, they are still trying to keep me safe.
