From a mother's perspective, I see the concern. My son is learning too. We are also going thru the "new driver" thing too with him. He actually learned to ride before he learned to drive a car. I would say, to me, I would be impressed if you showed me how safe you plan to be on the thing. Research the gear, research the class. Maybe invite your folks to go to the class with youeven if they don't take it, they will at least see that what is taught is not a joke. They just want you to be safe andunfortunately, we as parents wig out easy when our babies are involved. Any other kid and we wouldn't care (as much). Good luck man, let us know how it comes out.

My father has had several motorcycles, and it doesn't make my mother hate them any less. I was told no repeatedly when I asked if I could get a bike. I would say dad has one, and my mom would say something like "if your father falls, and get brain damage it would probably make him smarter". I went and bought a bike that a buddy had for $150 a1986 Honda FR, and I took it home. Holy $hit my mom was pissed! She yelled, and tried to drag it out into the street. She told me that if she saw it in the driveway she would run it over with her car. WhileI was getting yelled at, my dad went out, and started it up. He was revving it, andmaking "wooo" sounds, which did not help my plight at all. After abouta week she calmed down sort of.She still hates motorcycles, andwhen I go to their house I won't park my bike where she can see it.

hahaha, it just does not end on a parents concern! I can still plop my exhausted **** on the couch in full leathers, place the helmet down, and still get a how are you doing, you know, that riding is dangerous. hahaha According to her, riding is more dangerous than my tours overseas I guess. A parents concern is a great thing if you know what I mean by that.

Yeah, listen to this i told my parents about the course (booked until november, ha) and they said they didn't want me to take it because i would have to ride a motorcycle(streetbike). then i brought up pages and pages of gear and helmets and videos and told them they could look at what i would be doing at the course. they didn't even want to look at it. i was so mad. ive tried asking every day a million times. just makes them more mad. i dont get it. i still bring it up every time i can. i just want a motorcycle <---- thats what i usally say but that is how i feel. also they want me to quit riding dirtbikes. which i only ride on occasion. it is located at our farm which is a 45 minute drive away so i have to go there with my older bro or my parents.

Yeah, we are something else aint we!
Well, I tried for ya dude, (ninjan00b). What's your dad say about the whole thing?? I don't think it's fair to make you quit riding dirtbikes since you have been doing it for so long. That's really a bad thing. Makes me wonder why theintense and seemingly sudden attitude with riding. Has someone had a recent accident that you know of? How many accidents have you had on the dirtbikes?Obviously if you can do that, youhave shown some responsible behavior. What about driving the familycar/truck/van??? Do they (mom) freak out when you drive?

I cant really think of any recent accidents of anyone we know, but every time there is a local accident or a bad accident anywhere close(i live in nebraska) he tells me about it and says it could happen to you good thing you don't have a streetbike. and i haven't had anything really bad in dirtbike accidents the worst was a scraped up arm, and that wasn't bad. i drive an acura legend that is my own and i drive everywhere my mom doesn't think twice. i do get the whole don't go out of the city and tell me where you are if you leave thing. but i assume that is normal. after all i have been driving for over a year and havent got a citation. which means im either really good at excaping the cops or a semi-ok-driver.

This is easyone. As much as it sux you need to follow your parents rules. They are only doing what they think is best for you and trying to keep you safe. Suck it up and soon the time will come when you will be able to get your bike.

Besides "all I wanted was a pepsi"
