Default Great Gear

I'm just tossing this out. We (as riders) are always looking for "stuff that works." There's a wealth of information in this membership that makes the KF incredibly valuable to a lot of people. I'd like to pose the question: "What single item have you come across lately, that gives you the whoa! factor in your motorcycle experience?"

For example, last summer, I bought a Scorpion 400 helmet at Mid-Ohio, and subsequently ordered a photochromic shield (changes tint according to outside light) that I use exclusively. That shield is the BEST piece of equipment I've gotten in a LONG, LONG time. I don't have to worry about riding home blind with a "welding helmet" on, and don't have todink around changing shields when my retinas are burning from the sunshine.Theshield is darn near colorless at night (novisible tint), and will gradually change (maybe 2-4 minutes) to a soothing medium-dark bluish-grey tint in bright sunlight. Any conditions in-between will create a perfect corresponding amount of tint.
Scorpion makes great helmetsat an excellent price point. (Removable liner, good venting, etc.) They are not ashigh-end as a Shoei or Arai, etc., and I know many of you swear by them, too; I'm not saying Scorpions are better. But I'd recommend the photochromic shield to everyone. Not cheap; around 60-70 bucks, but perfect (read: Godsend) for those of us who are tired of changing shields as part of our pre-ride routine.
My other helmets are collecting dust, now.

How 'bout it? What gives you the whoa! factor??

There's one more item I'd like to suggest, too. Go to the Nology.com website. I have a set of capacitor wires on my old 9. For those of you unfamiliar, "cap-wires" have a capacitor built into the spark plug wire, that builds a charge, and then provides a more complete spark at threshold. I've noticeda better response across all revs; nothing radical, but it "feels" more solid when I crack the throttle. Plugs seem to last a little longer and burn cleaner. Maybe not anoverwhelming whoa!but significant, nonetheless. I'm not sure what applications they may have for newer bikes.
Car manufacturers use these quite a bit now, too, I think.
Anyway, worth a look.

That is a tough one jeffzx9. But here a couple of the "whoa" items I think are worth mentioning again.

1) The Penske triple and the AK-20 setup

2) The Wheel Dock

The SIDI boots are listed in the gear section.

I have another "whoa" item in the mail at this time that I am dying to install and try out before I say much.

The Penske setup looks sweet! Let us know how it works when you get it hooked up and running!
I use an Ohlins on the rear. I love the ease of the preload (no stupid knuckle-busting rings on the spring!) and the ride is "dial-able" just how I like it; maybe just a touch on the stiff side for the street, until you get freeway hauling...
Good stuff!!

I have 4500 miles on the shock and fork internals. Fortuneatly the penske comes with a tool to make preload adjustments a cake walk.
