Default Good wheelie, bad landing...

Yesterday, while stopped at one of the places we stop along the ride, we decided to stay a little longer and watch the stunters ride their mile-long wheelies. Definitely impressive. They knew what they were doing; however, everyone f#cks up! While we were all looking the other way, we heard a horrible crunch. We looked to the right to see one of the guys (who apparently had put his front wheel down) hit the deck. His bike's about 8 feet in the air, flipping end over end, hitting pavement then flipping back up and doing a couple more summersaults before it slides off to the shoulder about 100 feet down the road - completely disassembled! Meanwhile he slides some, then tries to get to his hands and knees...you know what happens then....he goes into about 6 good rolls before ending up flat on the road about 70 feet from where it all began. Then, he stands up and walks over to the shoulder, where he settles himself in to recover through the shock. Luckily, he was smart enough to have good equipment. His helmet was pretty shaved down, his 2-piece leathers had come up, so he had some decent rash on his back, and one of his gloves had burned through so part of his palm was sanded down pretty well.....although he didn't want it - somebody call the ambulance. As he was a pretty big guy, it was a smart move - I'd be thinking about internal injuries with that many tumbles... In any case, it was the most fantastic/horrifying accident I've ever witnessed. Thanks to gearing up right, the guy's still alive....but I'm guessin it'll be awhile before he wheelies again.

Props to those who can do the stunts, I hope he heels up quickly.

yup, watching someone do some good stunts is awesome!!!

I need to get a 2 piece with a zipper like that ..... I had a friend yesterday that was driving back from work and hit a rabbit. He lost control of his old v65 and dumped her. He was geared up tho. Cracked his HJC. It was the modular one. But, his jacket rode up and he got a little bit of road rash on his right side. Not real bad tho. Trashed the bike, ruined the helmet, and needs a new jacket.

Ima gonna hafta get a zipper......

We just don't have many stunters down this way [:@]...... We did have one of those skills things not long ago. It is amazing the control those guys have. Riding their bikes over cars, etc...

i had a similiar experience. I thought I had stopped slidding and when I tried to get up , I started tumbling. I had just the icon motorhead jacket with the long tail and it still came up.
