Going from the '08 250r to the '08 zx6r
Wassup Everyone,
What can I expect when switching from the new '08 250r to an '07 zx6r? I have never been on a bike bigger than the 250 I have now so I really have no idea what I'm getting myself into. I would really appreciate some feed back from the veteran riders who started on a smaller bike and moved up the ranks to liter bikes and bigger.Folks in my shoes now who may have recentlystepped up to a bigger bikeI want to hear from you guys to. Thanks.

i've never done that but what i think is that the throttle is going to be more touchy. so just take it slow until you get it down. how long have you been riding?

prob expect your arms to mysteriously stretch 2in longer from the warp speeds be carful and slow with throttle changes and try not to find yourself accidently goin faster than you expected its easy to do

Hey! Well if you feel comfortable with every part of riding your 250, you can make the change. I started on a 500, then got a gsxr 600 and from the second I rode it off the lot, I felt at home. I got 85 mph out of first gear and got it up to 160 mph. But you've got to keep a handle on these bigger bikes. They can get you in trouble real fast. Some of my friends found that out the hard way. Respect that throttle. The reason I no longer ride a gsxr and back on a 500 is the comfort thing. Two hundred miles on a gsxr can easily feel like two thousand. And besides, I can go 120mph easily and use less gas!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take it easy, Tonya

That's what I want to do! but how are you going to afford the insurance? For full coverage I pay @ $500/YRfor my 08 250R and I just got a quote from myinsurancefor a ZZR600 and ZX6R......$980/YR!!!That's with $1000 deductibleand I'm 31 years old, 1 speeding ticket in the past 3 years and I live in WV.Anyoneknow any other than my Foremost/AIG??? Maybe cheaper??

Im sure its going to feel like a major difference, and it will be. Before you go sporting in the turns, realize that the 600 will totally accelerate without you even realizing it. So what Im saying is, you may not realize you are going as fast as you actually are when you're entering a turn. Stay focused on the bike's acceleration, the difference from your 250 to the 600, then later on, when you're used to the acceleration, try sporting.
