Default first bike???

I'm 19 and just got my learners permit a few days ago and am wondering if a Ninja 250R is too small for me Im about 5'11" and around 180lbs. i have no experience on bikes whatsoever, only experience i have is on a 2006 Yamaha Raptor 350. So i want some input on if i should get this to learn on or shoudl i go with a Ninja 500R?

I think every new rider is different. A lot depends on who you are as a person, are youcautious or do you know you love speed, and how much money you want to spend. This means the bike and insurance. A 250 should not be so bad all the way around as far as costs go. Will you feel that it is not enough power, of course, but you need to learn on something. My advice for a first time rider goes like this-never even think about a 1000, a 600 could get you into trouble or you could get away with it, and a 250 can be sold after one year to the next newbie so you can get something better.

I bought a usedNinja 500R as my first bike. don't start with an engine any something smaller. The Ninja 500R is actually areally good bike though a little underpowered.

Both the 250R and 500R will make excellent bikes. I would take the '08 250R over the 500R for looks alone, but eventually, you will probably want some more HP. The 500R may satisfy your needs for a while longer if power is a concern.

well im thinking the 250 because of the cost being that i dont have alot of money and dont want all my money to be tied up in the 500. What im worried about is that by the end of summer im going to be like man i wish i had more juice. But then again i dont want to have the extra ummph and do sumthing stupid

I was 6'2" 240 when I started riding, and started on a ninja 250. It would do 90+mph just fine. It will be more then enough to learn on. I want to get one now just to commute on.

i just got my license as well. and im thinking about a 600 to start off, best way to go buying used and at a good price but for that to happen you have to be patient.
(the new 250 looks so sick tho)

hmm, my fairytale was zx7 or plus. Yes, each person demands the ride that meets their needs.
