Default First bike ?.

Hello all. I am looking to purchase my first bike and have a few ?'s. I am leaning towards a Ninja 500. The prices I have been finding are right around $5,000 for an 07 but I came across a new one listed at $4,000. It was blue in color and if I remember correctly I thought it just said Ninja 500 not 500R. Just wondering what the differance is and why such a $ differance also. Thanks for any and all replies.

not sure of the difference but that sounds like a good price. the only think i can think of is that the 500r could be set up for racing. But i'n not totaly sure.

The ex500's do not have a race version. Unless you make it so. I have not kept up on the prices on them. Different locales offer different prices.

I am the biggest Ninja cheerleader out there, but I would honestly steer you away from the 500. Build quality is not so good, and the feedback you get from the bars is unlike any 600+ from any other manufacturer. I think it and the Katana 600 are probably the two last bikes to introduce people to sportbikes on.

I would actually recommend the Suzuki GS500, and then work your way up to a Ninja 600 or such, that way you won't have to learn how to ride all over again.

4-5k right off the bat?If you are spending that much-perhaps depending on your confidence and quickness to learn- a 600 might be a better bike. I started out on a 250R.... and was more than ready to get an R6 -- then my 636

4-5K isn'tbad- but keep in mind- for that much green you can skip a step.If you decide to skip the 250/500 CC steps- just be careful and patient. 600 are intermediate/advanced.... but you could ride it for a longer time
