My thoughts are with the family of the injured rider it is a shame and never a good situation when its mc vs suv. I agree with Big Rig though you can't live life scared of death (no one gets away from death), **** happens, a person dies every 13 seconds in the U.S. caused by numerous things. Enjoy life and reduce risk by paying attention to other drivers on the road, we all know cars can't see us sometimes the time cagers don't see other cagers. I would rather die doing what I love than die wishing I had done all the things I love. I also agree the track is far safer than the streets so if nothing else take it to the track--at least you are still riding!! I like the track better just because you can use the bike to its full potential but I can't stand driving to work I feel like a zombie, on the bike I feel energized and excited about life.

 

I hear ya Notstock, If I didnt have to pay on my bike I would prolly sell it. I do enjoy it though, but with my late friend this past week it just dont feel the same. In fact I went out and bought a lil 02 civic coupe last friday. I think I rode my bike once in the past 7 days.

 

I am sorry to hear you lost a friend lemac. I hope everyone rides careful...and I am looking forward to the day the DMV starts teaching all licensed and new drivers to be aware of motorcyles. California is looking into integrating lessons in their manuals, test and driver ed classes that will hopefully help reduce accidents and raise awareness of motorcycles for cagers. Including who has the right of way.

 

Like we all have said already, it really sucks when things like that happens. BR18's signature spells it out though:
I will not tip toe through life to arrive safely at death.
I'm without kids or a wife, so it's definitely different for me than folks with a family. But look on the plus side, if you're able to even see this post you're doing much better than those who have never straddled a bike.
