dumb question... but if you are scraping and grinding shift lever before the feeler on the underside of the peg - shouldn't you adjust your lever up quite a bit?
Actually if you are dragging bike parts, you may need to adjust your suspension a little. Also hang off they bike a little.

I don't ride with the ***** of my feet on the pegs so my toe sliders on my Alpinestars boots will drag before any bike parts do.

my shift lever is in the stock position far as i know you cant really adjust the stock ones
Eh... of course you can. You have to remove it from the peg mount, re-position it, and adjust the length of the rod by turning in or out the connecting shaft for both ends.

I agree though... you may also want to tighten up your suspension... No way you should he scraping shifters and such, even if you are heavy. If it is that soft, you will notice an amazing increase in handling once you get it dialed in. And you might want to re-consider putting the feelers back on. Since the pegs are spring loaded, they will still come up if you scrape... but it is also letting you know it is time to back off - they are there for safety

i'm definately looking at getting my suspension adjusted. i know the bikes come setup from the factory for a 150lb rider and i am 185 so it will probably make a huge difference just been lazy and havent really looked inot it or had the time to have someone do it for me. i will probably have it done now that i'm back. i have to get my 15000 mile svc as well as inspection this week. lol its gonna be an expensinve week for me and my bike.

congrats on the ride.
When your toes grace the tarmac in the wet, you know the tires and suspension are in the sweet zone. Redial for the dry and you will love it.

Glad you guys had a good trip but sorry about the rain []

Sounds like you need to invest in some rear sets, moving them up and back will give you more clearance. Nice going on the mcguiver fix for the shifter.Should get your sag set so you are up as high as possible too.

Post the pics!
