Im new to the forum and just bought by first cruiser. a 2009 kawasaki vulcan custom 900. no pics yet, havent got it home yet

Those pegs attached to the pipes don't look like a good idea, shouldn't they be attached to the frame?

They aren't touching the pipes. I custom made "T" shaped brackets that fit in the stock peg mounts that move the boards down and forward about 2 inches. The boards hover above the pipes by a bit over an inch. The boards themselves are actually made for mounting on an engine guard. I used the half of the mounting bracket that holds the board and I set the rest on a shelf. You can see it a little better in this pic. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...r/IMG_0761.jpg You can see the half mount (the aluminum "U" shape) just inside the board.

My bigest concern was the leather on that board being so close to the pipes, but it's been OK now for about a year.

my highway bars are mounted to my exhaust... they do get hot though now that ive been able to go on longer rides. Ive got "kawasaki" burned into the bottom of my shoes. kindof funny i think
