Default cant start my baby!!

I'v been gone from home for almost 2 weeks now ( had to leave on short notice) and today i called up a friend to start my bike back in texas to keep it from gettin carbon deposits and oil gunk and build up and stuff, but when he went to sart it my Ninja 250R it woldent turn over! I know its not the battery or starter because i could clearly hear it trying to start. Also my friend said he could smell gasoline when he tried starting it. Whats wrong with her. I'll be gone for at least another 2 months! Will she be fine until i return or can i expect irreperible damage?

First I would check the connections to the battery, and clean them. Next I would look at the date on the battery if it's old, and by old I mean like five years, it may not be putting out enough amps to turn the engine over.

The gas has gone sour. If it's been very hot outside, (and where hasn't it? Alaska??) the O2 has at least partially vaporized.
From what you said, the engine is "turning over" and trying to start, but then "you smell gas.."
The plugs are fouling on the bad gas. Stop there; you're just wasting your starter motor.
Try this:
1. Wait a day before trying to start it so your plug(s) can dry out.Get a can of starting fluid and spray about a 2-second blast into the airbox or into the air"path." Try to start it.
2. If this doesn't at least get a partialstartgoing, you'll need to pull the plug(s). They will likely look pretty crappy. Clean or replace.
3. Put a shot of starting fluid into the spark plug hole(s). Replace plug(s). Try to start again.
(**I don't know how long your gas has been in the tank, so I'm making some assumptions here..)
4. Assuming it's a carbureted model, drain the bowl(s) andthen refill. The gas in the tank should be OK; at least enough to start your bike. Sometimes the gas sitting in the bowls will vaporize and lose it's combust-ability, especially when it's been as hot as this summer.
5. Try to start it again.
6. All else fails, drain the bowls and tank, get fresh gas and plugs.
It's all gas and spark. I'm guessing your problem is some combination of the two.
Hope this helps.

thnx this was really helpfull. I cant do much about it right now since i'm in D.C and my Ninja 250R is all the way back home in South Texas, but i should be gettin back in 2 months. I'll try everything you posted and hopefully there isent any permanent damage when i return to start her. Again thnx alot for the input!

You said it wouldn't turn over? Then what does gas, good or bad have to do with anything? If its turning over, then shut off the gas, open up the drain screw on the bottom of the carb, and then close. Open up the gas valve wait 10 seconds, hit the start button with the choke pulled out, and it will start. And yes I am an expert in this.

sounds good , thnx, like i said, cant really do much to my 250 now, guess i'll just have to wait till i get back home in two months. Still, I'm a bit worried if there will be any permanent damage to my bike if i leave her sittin there for that long. Its a 2006 Ninja 250R, with about 8,000 miles on her, the climate in south tx is warm so i dont have to worry about liquids freezing or anything like that. Anyone one if i can expect permanent damage?

This was what I was going off of.
Jeff has a couple of good points though as well.
I would have done the deej tactic prolly first of all.
