The aftermath

RE: The aftermath
just remember to put a good coat of oil on the ring of the filter and remember to only put it on hand tight. the high heat of the motor will sorta bond the filter to the motor and if you put it on real tight and or there isn't a good oil ring on the filter, it will be that hard to get off. Good luck in the future and as n/s said it will be easier and easier.

Goodness me!
I'm a girl and it only takes me 30 mins fairings included. After the oil is out, always make a point of putting the plug back in before completing any other part of the job.
Works for me

RE: The aftermath
we had 2 boneheads at work yesterday tighten the 2 fuel filters on a new Mack truck so tight that it distorted the filter housing and wouldn't let the engine run over 1700 rpm because the fuel system would suck air into the EUP pump.....I broke my filter wrench removing them.I had to use a chain wrench and a cheater pipe to get them off.
Once the filter contacts i go 3/4 of a turn by hand ...that's it.oil the o-ring too.

Wow, as I was reading, I was thinking if someone overtightened it AND crosstreaded it somehow... LOL! Glad everything turned out and you'll be sure to double and triple check things from now on because of that one mistake.

im pretty sure mechanics overtighten all the nuts and bolts so that you can't get them off and therefore resort to taking it back to them, but i could be wrong.
