Angry 1980 kz250d1

i have a 1980 kz250d1 ltd which i love.

i am trying to remove the left engine cover of which the manual says
'remove the 9 screws and pull it off'. guess what? it doesn't move.
what could be holding it?

BTW i've been doing this for 40 years and this is one of the first
times i've been stymied.

regards,

sam basile

Welcome to KF

I have not taken one of those apart yet, but I would think that give it a rap with your dead blow hammer to loosen it. good luck on the inspection.

or.....Tell the wife, that the brand new Diamond necklace you bought her, "fell" behind said cover. I promise, the cover will be off in less than 10 seconds. lol

Thumbs down forgot this

yikes! what i meant to say is that the cover is loose but will not
come off. there seems to be something holding it toward the bottom.

is the generator holding it? the clutch cable. i'm stumped.

sam basile

Not quite sure on that one, you should be able to see anything holding it. Check out the fiche and see if there is something you missed. Welcome to KF!

I have an answer.
I had a 1982 KZ750 and i had the same problem.
Just take it out on a windy road and get up to about 55mph and just crash into a ditch on a curve. it should pop off then, worked for me.
hope this helps,
