yeah he thought so too...and now I get to take the pics of his bike thats going in a magazine....I dunno which one yet....he's got some deal worked out with someone or sumpin. But its fun and its exposure for my buddy Frank who did the customizing on the bike and maybe a little for me for taking the pic. (I think we are shooting thepics next week sometime)

Ive got an HJC ac-12 and a Soumy spec 1R. aside from price the only diffrence i can tell is the soumy's pads feel nicer and the lid is quieter. I think when you get into the high price lids the only big diffrence is pading and graphics. For what its worth I hear people say all the time the spec1r lids are really light. My HJC is way way lighter then the spec1r. Then again the HJC is carbon fiber.

As long as it is snell approved and dot approved you should be good. These are the two standards for impact for all helmets.

I got a zues helmet that came with my bike, i've been looking online and can find no info, and they aren't listed on that safety test at the beginning of the post. It's Dot approved and made in taiwan. I'm assuming its a cheap a$$ helmet but its comfortable, doesn't fog, its got the air vents by the mouth, and the whole face flips up.

Check on impact tests before you buy, Arai makes $450-$700 helmets, and they almost all passed but the profile helmet failed, do a bit of homework. Like the guys said, companies like KBC and most HJC helmets are just as safe but are hundreds less. Try it before you buy it.

NJK leathers makes the best jackets in my opinion. I have a Dainese Zen leather jacket, but for the money the NJK leathers are legit as hell. All rated armor too. Custom is available (that's how they started) but they have a great inexpensive product line. They're local to me (turns out one of my managers knows the founder). Good company!!!
(Their mesh breeze is an awesome awesome jacket as well!)

I was looking for a good summer jacket, and just read your post while browsing the gear forum. Looked up the Mest Breeze jacket. It has hard armor, which I want, and after looking at the price, it's only $109[:-]

Sold

You seen this yet? http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testin...218/index.html

A jacket question? I like Bates and Z custom leathers. A lot of opinions on that also.
Hmmmm, is it a coincidence taht the failed lids are the ones that are not so very well known, hmmmmmmmmmmm??
