Default gear suggestions.....

Well I will be getting a 500R very soon and would like to know what are some good protective wear!!!

I already have a helmet, one of the better ones on the market - that's the most important fo sho!!!

Now, probably will need a good jacket with a back shield, some good pants for now since this is my frist street bike and maybe even some shoes???

Any suggestions, or maybe even packages that any of you know I can look at???

Thanks, D.

Man, you can't go wrong with any of the big manufacturers... Icon, Alpinestars, Joe Rocket, etc......

www.cyclegear.com has some awesome blowout pricing right now. Leather is always the way to go if you can afford it, etc.... A lot of Icon stuff is on sale there.

And check out cyclemart.... One of our sponsors... Evil was looking at them the other day and they had some serious sales going on.....

Every manufacturer is a little different. I love my new Icon gloves, but my Rocket jacket is the best fitting jacket I have ever owned, etc....

ebay is awesome. if you have a 1k to spend of gear, then your set. I would look into a 2piece joe rocket gps2 suit. mspr is around 600 bucks. ofcourse you can get it cheaper on eaby. Get a good set of gloves b/c when you fall the first thing your gona do is try and brace yourself with your hands, its just a natural reaction. You can get a very good set for 80 or less. for boots, if you look in the back of like cycle world or motorcyist mag, there is a add for some race boots, the company that makes them is over seen by sidi and they run about 130 bucks. I personally have the icon motorhead jacket. I love it but If I knew now what I now then, I would of opted and get a 2piece race suit. b/c you can always take the pants off if you want. do a search on ebay for joe rocket razor 2. its a textile suit but if you find one you can get it for around 200 bucks. it works great but will only handle one good crash, leather will last alot longer

I'd take a look at icon's field armor. They make abrasion resistant shorts, knee/shin guards, chest/back protector and elbow guards, all of which you can wear under almost any clothing. I have the shorts and knee/shin guards which I wear under my icon jeans. They fit nice and dont restrict my movement when on the bike.

What jacket, pants, helmet and gloves you get is up to you. Altho leather > textile.

well for the helmet I wil be getting from my friend, a shoei (joker) he barrely uses it since it doesn't fit his new bike anymore so I should be getting it pretty good price: http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...m=HEL_03-657_G

for the jacket my friend just got this and loves it: http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1...33505-631-46_G
it is kind of a bitch on price but I will shop around a little, I like the idea of having back support in the jacket, wore it today and can't feel anything.... it's pretty damn good one!

as to the other things I still need to do more reaserch of what I will like and how much I will have to play with, considering that freaken jacket is way expensive.... I might look into other options as you guys mentioned about the 2 pc. race suits where it's almost same price for that vs. just the jacket....

yes, I'm looking at around 1K, hopefully a little less but I rather feel safer out there then save a few bucks and then pay for it later.....!!!!
