That would be cool NS.... looks like it would help with rib protection. Especially when you are at the track....

RE: Body armor and back protection.
Well I finally made it into a shop,(cycle gear) and tried on the icon vest http://www.newenough.com/armor_icon_..._vest_page.htm
I was not impressed and felt it offered very little rib protection. So I am still on a search and may be leaning more towards some alpine stars products.
I will post up what I end up buying and why.
Mike.

RE: Body armor and back protection.
i actually tried this vest on @ a local dealer, and i was impressed with the fit.
true it doesn't protect the ribs but it's not advertised or designed as such.
my jacket does have padding in the back, but i would like something much harder for that
'just in case' feelin'. unless i find something as good or better for the money, it's for sure on my list for
next season.

I wonder if you couldn't get some heavy tooling leather, and have straps sewn in by a sail shop to affix it. I do leather work as a hobby, and I have some that's so thick you need a jig saw to cut it. I would cut it in an hour glass shape, and just wrap it around your back to both sides right up to the seam that holds the zipper.
