Scratched Plastic
Hey guys today I was riding my KLX and I crashed I'm not hurt much but my bike is a bit hurt.. The Right Side Panel (one next to the exhaust) and the right side hand guard and exhaust got scratched.. I'm So Sad as this was the bikes first damage.. I was wondering if you guys know any way to get the scrapes out? As in use a sand paper or something? Could anyone who knows please tell me how to do it?

possibly you could do what skiers do when they ski over rocks, my buddies dad does this and it works pretty well.
1)buy a kawi green wax stick. (not candle wax, hard thick wax)
2) melt the stick over the plastic until theres a good pile of hard wax over where the scratch was
3) sand the wax down to the level of the plastic, so it no longer bumps up
4)hold an iron or something over the sanded wax til it melts just a bit, so it becomes smooth.
you could possibly use some paint over the wax to to avoid a difference in the reflectivity of the matereals..
i dunno if this will work, but i dont see why not...

Pending the size of the gouges and stuff, you could get away with some bondo for sure. It would leave some multicolor areas wherever you worked the bondo and it might need some painting, but it would definitely fill the cracks! I posted a how to in the DIY section called fun with bondo, check it out if you are interested!

First of all, a sticker will just be a band aid. The best way to fix it would be to first sand out the scratch. You will need to use about 120 grit paper so that it will provide a small amount of grooves so the filler will have something to stick to. You will need to find flexible body filler. Regular "Bondo" will fill it but the first time it needs to flex a bit it will just crack off. After you have the affected area covered with filler just sand it down working to smoother and smoother paper until you have a surface that is suitable for fresh paint......... I hope this helps.
