2002 ZG1000 Vacuum routing
I just purchased a 2002 Connie with 45,000 miles. It was running a little rough, rpm's not falling between shifts, erratic during warm up.
I wanted to perform a preliminary carb sync and in the process found the vacuum hoses to be out of sort, or so I thought.
I have since found that some of it is correct, though i can't say I believe it to be how I would do it.
Number 2 Carb is used to actuate the fuel petcock.
Number 3 Carb was just capped off.
Numbers 1 and 4 were combined, but also tee'd in with a pull-off type device mounted to the top of the valve cover.
I also noticed another device, attached to the frame, that is about 3-4 inches in diameter, made of plastic or composite. I think there was a single wire connection and what I believe to be a vacuum nipple, but without any tubing attached.
I was not able to identify the proper routing from the Kawasaki Parts information, and was also not able to identify either of the two vacuum devices. I suspect they may be emission related (maybe even California), but would like to know if and how they are to be incorporated into the normal operation.
Also, has anyone combined all four carburetor vacuum ports (similar to a YICS system on early 80's Yamaha XJ's)? And if so, what were the results?
Thanks for your help,
Ron

wow another new member that knows a few things. Congrats bro.
I do not have the connie manual, but even on my zx7 the vacuum ports are plugged in to the other cylinders in some fashion, and the only cap is of the vacuum ports are where you place your synch gauges. Good luck and keep us other newbs up to date.

Thanks for the welcome! No expert, but not my first ride either. This is my first Concours, third Kawasaki (1999 and 2003 Nomad 1500's).
Bike #1-1973(?) Benelli 650 Tornado. #2-1983 Goldwing 1100, #3-1982 Yamaha XJ650J Maxim, #4-1978 Goldwing 1000, #5 1986 Goldwing 1200, #6-2000 Honda Shadow ACE Tourer, #7-1983 Honda CM400A(utomatic), #8-1999 Nomad 1500, #9-2003 Nomad 1500, #10-1991 Goldwing 1500, #11-2002 Concours.
First bike was about 1982-83, then nothing until 1999. Prefer the older Wings with exposed engines, the Nomads were fantastic! Still looking for the pertfect bike, probably doesn't exist cause "my eyes have always been bigger than my stomach".
Have probably ridden around 150,000 miles to my best estimates, a little over 40,000 in the last two years, 11,000 since June of '09. Hate having to stop temporarily while "tuning" this one, but hope to be back on soon.
