help with # 2spark plug misfire

hmm, check your connections first. Cylinders 1 & 4 are on coil #1, Cylinders 2 & 3 are on coil #2. Are they correctly placed this way? If so, then check the primary and secondary resistance of the coil per your manual. I do not have a 550 manual but:
per my kz750 manual: primary winding 1.8-2.8 ohms. Secondary winding 10k-16k ohms. "With the highest ohmmeter range, check for continuity between one primary winding terminal, and one spark plug lead and the coil core. If there is any reading, that coil is shorted and must be replaced. Also, replace the ignition coil if either spark plug lead shows visible damage."
So you have verified a couple items in what my manual is telling me already. Good luck and get a manual for your ride if you plan on keeping it.

thanks for the info this is my daughter's bike and my first time working on a bike here is a little of what I have done so far, removed carbs and cleaned, new spark plugs and wires.with the bike running I pull # 2 plug wire and ther is no difference in the engine idle pull the others one by one and the engine will stumble so I am pretty sure it has to do with the coil I hope so I guess i better wait till I get the manul

My bike is doing the same thing. 1994 Kawasaki KZ1000P. Cylinder #2 is not firing. Before you suspect the coil being bad, fire up the bike and keep it running as best as you can. Put on some good quality mechanics gloves and pull #2 spark plug boot from the spark plug. Take small/medium screwdriver and insert it into disconnected spark plug boot. Hold screwdriver by the handle or you will get zapped. Place the screwdriver close to engine or frame. If you get a spark, the coil is good. Mine had a healthy spark so my coil is fine. In my situation, I believe that the carburetor is clogged up so I think #2 cylinder is not getting any fuel unless I bring the revs up above 2000rpm, then all cylinders fire and the motor comes alive. You might end up cleaning a carb or two. Good luck!
