Carb problem GPZ900R A3
Hope someone can help and point me in the right direction.
My A3 runs perfect with standard exhausts and air filter.
I have now fitted a set of Kerker cans and 4 individual pod air filters. I realise I now need to rejet the carbs. I was adviced when I bought the Kerker cans that I would probably have to go up two jet sizes. Looking on other sites the air filters are probably another size up.
The original carbs are Keihi CVK34 with 132.7 main jet. I have installed 140 main jets, which is up three sizes (2.5 increments).
I took it for a road test, but it dies around 4K revs in 5th/6th gear.
I need to take it out again to get a full appreciation of the characteristics of the fault.
Am I correct in assuming that the only adjustment I can make is with the main jet.
Cheers,
Malcolm.

Welcome to KF malgpz
4krpm in the high gears is also needle height/taper in the main jet. That is barely off idle under a load. What happens when the choke is rolled on during this? Or what happens on a wide open hit? Have you verified the carb synchronization? All of the vacuum lines in good condition? The CV diaphrams in good shape? Just a couple of questions is all. lol Good luck

I think Hoedogg is onto something. What do your plugs tell you after a wide-open run? (take it up to where it bogs, run for about 5 seconds that way, then shut-down, if you can.)
I would guess 136 mains, unless you took out the exhaust can baffle. Try taking out the baffle to see if you get a better mix.

Sometimes 1+2 doesnt equal 3 when it comes to getting a perfect mixture, if you cant find any other problems I'd say back it down and see if it runs better. Good luck bruddah
