Default 85 gpz 600

On my 85 600, i got a fresh paint job, well i get it back i go riding all day long with no problems. The next day i put on my new led turn signals and go our riding. 4 miles up the road after i let the bike warm up i get up on her. All of a sudden the bike sounds like doo doo, and the rpm gauge drops down to zero and doesnt work anymore. And the bike stalled on me. I pull over to see if any thing is leaking, nothing. I start up the biek it starts but it stalls if i dont give it gas. I start it agian give it gas adn the rmp gauge doesnt work and the bike still sounds like doo doo. Sounds like it was miss firing. Some guys said it sounded like the cdi box, so i replaced it still it doesnt work. HELP HELP

I'm assuming the "new" CDI box is used, considering the age of the bike. If so, it may be bad as well. A Kawi dealer should be able to test it. Since the tach died I would think the problem is somewhere in the ignition system.

I was driving around yesterday with my buddy and we stopped by this bike shop.. I told a guy that worked there and he said it could be my "charging system" beats the hell out of me waht that is. he said its a box that has fins. well i know where that is so. i asked him how much it would be to find out what the problem is he said 60 bucks or so. so im gonna take it to him next week

I doubt it is the chargeing system. That "box with fins" is the voltage regulater/rectifier. If that went bad, it would just kill the battery, not make the bike run bad. The tach shares a ground wire with the right turn signal indicator. It is also connected to the ignitor. If these wires somehow got crossed when the bike was reassembled after painting, it would probably fry every ignitor box you replace. Give the wireing harness a good inspection, and you should find the real problem. You can waiste alot of money on "it sounds like ....."
kind of solutions. You also mentioned LED turn signals. I'm not too shure, maybe somebody else knows but,
they might not be compatable with your electrical system. It is 21 years old after all. Maybe it just need a drink![8D]

Good point goodtimes. Any time a voltage/amp issue is an issue, rpms are bad. Whether a bad ground, more resistance on the electrical system, things sound similar.

Ide put a volt meter on the battery and see what the generator is putting out, i would also check the ground,Sounds to me all the way its a eletrical ground issue.
The little round thing with fins is the generator.its located on the left side of the engine just above the clutch and towards the center of the bike.
you cant see the fins because they are on the inside
