December 2009 Nominations!
#40
Thanks, gang!
A little history on the 9. Some kid bought it in '95, and had it about a month. He was riding it to work, supposedly, on Interstate 75 out of Cincinnati, near the Ivorydale Proctor and Gamble plant (those who live around here know how dangerous that stretch is) and proceeded to dump it. When I got it, it was in a salvage yard waiting for it's new owner like a rejected pup at the dog pound. After about a year of rebuild, repair, replace, and saving EVERY receipt for the DOT inspection, we got a salvage title. I tried to keep it pretty stock, going thru the inspection, just to avoid scrutiny about "is that DOT approved???"
A partial list of interesting items (aside from the obvious OE replacement parts to return it to spec):
Ohlins rear shock
Hand built brass radiator
Polished frame, swingarm, clutch cover
Chrome wheels, frame down-tubes, upper fairing bracket, ram air screens, kickstand
Re-paint OE Kaw green
Corbin seat and rear pillion
Carbon fiber tank guard, duct covers, hugger, mirrors, Kaw tank logo, gauge panel cover
Muzzy spools, braided brake lines, braided coolant line and oil line dress-up covering
Clear Alternatives tail light
Harris rearsets
Custom perf side fairing brackets, side-tail ports
Hotwires (coil-in-wire) spark plug wires
Vance & Hines carbon muffler
BMC air filter
Fiamm high tone horn
(and a bunch of OE stuff replaced during the salvage op.)
Feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks, again.
