I Give... can't adjust mono shock preload
Hi guys,
Let me start by saying I love my 2002 Drifter 800... i just got it a few weeks ago and I really feel comfortable on it. I am fairly mechanically inclind and do most mechanical work myself (on cars, bikes ect..)... but this shock thing has me perplexed....
The mono shock is set at 5.... I weigh 200lbs and it is a little soft... I added a seat for my wife (another area of trouble as I had to fabricate a bracket and customize a harley seat... no way I was going to pay $600+ for the factory seat... hell I only paid $2400 for the bike...) anyway, when we are both on the bike it bottoms out standing still.... so I get the book... look at the shock and can not get the thing to turn... I even jacked it up (to take the weight off) and no way.... Do I need a spanning wrench? It also sucks that I have to take the side panel off to get to the shock... so no changing it on the road I guess... seems like a pretty bad design...
Also, I am concerned that even if I take it to the shop (crap!) 7 setting will not be enough.... surely you can ride two people and some loaded bags?
I appreciate your insight on Shock adjustment.. two up riding and the such!
