New 500 Vulcan

New 500 Vulcan
Greetings from Parrish Florida.
I picked up my first bike, a brand spankin new 500 LTD, last night. I bought one without sitting on one, or even seeing one for that matter. Rode it home from the dealer last night, and just cruised around a little tonight. The only bike I have ever ridden was the Kawasaki Eliminator 125 I bought the wife. It was in stock, and we picked it up a few weeks ago. I am glad I practiced on the 125 prior to hopping on the 500. I've had people tell me that the 500 isn't big enough, that I should get a bigger one, yadda yadda yadda..... I think it will do me for quite a while. Very comfortable, excellent tone to the exhaust, really tickled with it. I have no desire to cruise on the highway, just run around country roads, and maybe a trip up and down the beach.
Anyone else out there with a 500? Drop me a note.
Jon

RE: New 500 Vulcan
Welcome to the forums Jon! Congrats on the new bike. I know what you mean about others pressuring you to get a bigger cc bike - I have a Ninja 500 that I have had for a year now. Everyone seems to think that I should move up to a bigger bike - but the 500 is plenty enough for me!
Again, congrats on the bike and you should try to post some pics - would love to see it!!

I've had my 98 500 for just over 6 months now and have loved every minute of it. I have added slash cut exhaust and have a set of cobras that I'm going to modify to fit. If you look hard enough out there you can find many additional parts, just be patient.

RE: New 500 Vulcan
I've had my 500 Vulcan for a month and a half. Haven't had a lot of time to ride it, but love the time I do have. Still in the breakin period. Have to keep from going zoom zoom, but am sure it is worth the wait. I think the wife will have this bike in a year and I will get a 750. Have to wait 'till I save up the bucks to buy a new one.
Have a Wonder filled day,

When I got the bug for a two-wheeler, everyone was trying to get to buy everything from a 750 to a 1300/1500! I would tell people I wanted a smaller bike;don't need anything with a lot of cc's; etc., etc. No one would listen! They saw me riding my Goldwing trike and figured I would want BIG.Well, I found the perfect bike on my own! Even less cc's than I thought, but certainly not a LITTLE bike! The 500 is perfect in every way! And even all those people who thought I should get bigger think I did! The 500 looks like it is 750-800 (frame same) and people do not realize since this bike has power! Only you know what is best for you;if we all succumbed to peer pressure, we'd all be riding black Harleys! (My apologies to my HD riding friends!) I do not want to "graduate" to bigger; I have bigger in my trike and love the nimble, zippy ride of the 500. I bought this to have fun and ride around town; not to impress people with lots of ccs. Enjoy whatever you decide to ride!
