Bike runs out of main tank early.

its all in the angle in which you are filling your bike. You must be sitting with it straight up like it tells you to in the manual. Next time you fill up fill it straight up then lean it on its kick stand and see how much more you can fit. You will be pleasently suprised! I always fill on the kickstand to the bottom of the filler tube and have had no issues i just go longer between fill ups...
gotta love getting 60 mpg and still be able to beat some of the "big" bikes....

Didn't work Mikey,
First I filled like always, with the bike on the stand. Then I got on and stood her up straight. The gas level actually came up into the neck. I couldn't get anymore in.
Also, I have an '09 and I searched and searched in the manual about sitting on the bike while filling. Didn't find anything. Perhaps you could point me to the correct page?

Running out of gas
I also had a problem with fuel engine stopped 3 different day with lots of gas in the tank and went to the dealer which had 3 other EN500 waiting to be serviced with the same problem, one was a 2008.
Talked to the head mechanic and he said it was a venting problem. He ordered a new gas cap for me. He said if the engine stops again just put petcock on PRIME as that bypasses all the antipollution tubes etc. The gas tank is not getting enough air in the tank so fuel will not flow.
He thinks the ethanol in the gas is messing up the plastic/rubber vent tubing in the gas cap.
Bike runs fine now with new cap and I can hear the cap making a noise letting air in or out of the fuel tank.

I'd usually get about 150mi as well on the main tank and could push 200 if I'm just highway riding before I'd be completely empty. But of course that's if I stuff the tank full of my 2007. I ran into a problem with the gas cap though, if you fill it way too full and take a good lean to the right you can get fuel in the system that relieves pressure to the tank. This caused it to not let air in when the fuel was emptying and the engine would stall because of lack of fuel. So be careful about trying to squeek that last 20mi range or so.
