http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/acc...r/tachometers/

Try that link out. It talks about all the aftermarket tachs andthey tested them on bikes. At the bottom of the article, it gives you all the info to each tach.

If that does not work for ya, even a small car tach, if you can find one that goes high enough, would work. They all work off the same principle.

Forgive my ignorace, I'm kinda new at all this, but I want to add a tach as well and have a question.

I recently looked into a Drag Specialties"mini-tach" for $80. I was told that I "may" need an adapter if I have a "single fire ignition." What does that mean?

Here's the tach - http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/de...amp;model_ID=0

Here's the adapter - http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/de...amp;model_ID=0

Can anyone recommend a better tach for about the same money?

Thanks!

Chuck

I bought a 2" dia. electronic Tach from Highway Hawk and hooked it up to my 1995 EN500A-B2 (european model) which I beleive has same engine as Vulcan 500 (US model) and it works fine. Max engine revs are 10,000 and tach has 12,000 max.

If still interested I can fish out part no and maybe post some pix of bracket I built to mount on handle bar.
