Default Mods & Jets & Clicks

(NOTE: The Mods & Jets spreadsheet has been updated with a new page forsuspension settings ... therefore "Mods & Jets & Clicks"!)

Hey guys, I know this stuff is plastered all over this forum, but I'm compiling a spreadsheet of everyone's performance mods and jetting configurations. You can download the Excel spreadsheet using the following link:

Kawasaki KLX250s Mods & Jets.xls
Kawasaki KLX250s Mods & Jets.pdf
Last Updated: 2007-04-13(NOTE: The Suspension page is a work in progress. Expect more changes in the next couple weeks/months)
I would like to include everyone's configuration regarding performance related modifications, and how well you feel those mods have affected your performance. I figure that between us all, we've done (and will do) everything possible to bend this bike out of shape from its stock configuration, and given the variety of modifications, we probably have a good representation of all the different combinations.

Using this table as a reference, when someone wants to do something to their bike and isn't quite sure where their jetting should be, they can take a look and find the closest configuration to what they want, know what jetting has worked, and know what kind of performance to expect.

I know the performance ratings are going to be pretty subjective (One man's "Good" is another man's "Freakin' Rocks", etc.), but until someone figures a way for all of us to dyno our bikes ... this is better than nothing, right?

So here's what's in the spreadsheet so far:

CONFIGS & JETTING

Configuration:
Bike / Rider - <Your name here>
Elevation - How high are you where you ride? (That's "where", not "when"!)
Date - Track your configuration changes over time (I know, we're all addicted to this. Just admit it and get on with it!)

Intake:
Airbox - What kind of snorkle setup do you have, or did you cut the airbox lid, or even remove it completely?
Filter - Stock or aftermarket air filter. Include a brand & part number if its not stock.

Exhaust: (This section is split in 2 for people that use the OEM or KLX300 head-pipe with a slip-on)
Head Pipe - What kind of head pipe do you have?
Muffler - What kind of muffler or silencer do you have? (If you installed a complete system, just put the same answer in twice.)

Drive Train:
Front - # teeth on the countershaft sprocket (Brand & Part #'s please!)
Rear - # teeth on the rear wheel sprocket (Again, brand & part #'s please!)

Carb Settings:
Pilot Jet - What size pilot are you running?
Main Jet - What size main jet are you running?
Needle - What needle are you using? If part of a DynoJet kit, which kit?
Needle Setting - If the needle is adjustable, which slot from the top is the clip in? Any spacers?
Fuel/Air Mixture - How many turns open is the screw set to. (How many turns open initially?)
Slide Mod - Did you enlarge the hole in the slide? If so, what drill size?

Performace:
Lean/Rich - How do you think your fuel / air ratio stacks up with this configuration (Scale: Too Lean, Lean, Slightly Lean, Perfect, Slightly Rich, Rich, or Too Rich)
Low End - How would you rate the low end "pull"? (Scale: Problems, Bad, Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent, or Freakin' Rocks!)
Mid Range - How would you rate the mid-range "Pull" (Same scale as above)
High End - How would you rate the top-end to redline "Pull" (Same scale as above)
Starting - How easy is the engine to start? How long do you need the choke on?
Idle - How is your idle? Smooth/Rough? How is it cold? How is it after it's warmed up?
Acceleration - How's the acceleration (Fast, Smooth, uneven, Back fires, Hesitates, Fades, etc.)
Deceleration - How's the decelleration (Fast, Smooth, Popping Exhaust, etc.)

Additional Mods:
Crank Case - What kind of ventilation mods have you done, if any?
Smog - Do you have the stock smog controls in place (Yes / No)?
Cylinder - Have you stuck with the stock cylinder displacement, or is your bike overbored? If overbored, what's your displacement?
Fuel System - Any additional mods to the fuel system
Ignition - Any additional mods to the ignition system (different plug or coil, aftermarket CDI, etc.)?

Other:
Comments - Nice weather we're having today, isn't it?

SUSPENSION

Configuration:
Bike / Rider - <Your name here>
Weight- Nothing personal, but its at the heart of the matter
Date - Track your configuration changes over time

(NOTE: Suspension settings are very dependent on terrain and riding style ... more attributes need to be added here to capture that info!!!)

Front:
Spring - What springs are you using? (Unless you've changed them, your using the "Stock" springs)
Clicks - How many "clicks" open from fully closed?
Feel - Totally subjective and depends on both where and how you ride.

Back:
Spring - What springs are you using? (Unless you've changed them, your using the "Stock" springs)
Comp - How many "clicks" open from fully closed?
Rebound - How many "clicks" open from fully closed?
Sag - Measurements of bike height that reflect rider weight, spring rate, and preload (More work needed here)

Additional Mods:
Lowering
- What kind oflowing mods have you done, if any?

Other:
Comments - Hey, that Pastrana is something else, isn't he?

Hey, no problem! Who knows, maybe someone could do something similar for height adjustments and suspension settings?

Probably the easiest thing for people to do is to quote the bottom portion of the original post, then edit it with your information. Or you can PM me ... makes no difference.

im not going to do this now as come another month when i park it for the winter its tear down and mod like crazy time.. if this thread is still active once im done for the winter i will fill out one tho. the only thing i see that can be added to the form is "Home Elevation" for the carb settings section or maybe somewhere else in the form... this will possibly give people dead on settings for their carb setups if the person is located at the same elevation and has their bike setup spot on. btw.. great idea!!

Great suggestion, jsac, thanks!

Both the original post and the spreadsheet have been updated with a place for "Elevation". Will add a link to download the spreadsheet shortly!
