Works Performance Shock
Finally got and installed a Works Performance shock on my 500R. The enclosed instructions su-ucked, but after much experimental mounting/removing/remounting, was able to mount the remote reservoir securely to the rear subframe, just inside the left seat fairing. Tucked away, hidden and secure, but it's mounted slightly cockeyed because it's a tight fit in there.
The shock was $390, but it comes with a tool to adjust the spring preload and it actually permits adjustment without having to remove the shock (like we must do with the stocker.) And of course it has adjustable compression and rebound damping.
Has a gargantuan range of preload adjustment! Much more than the swingarm pivot point will allow.
Haven't had a chance to do any dialing-in, or even take a test ride, but the stroke action is MUCH smoother than stock when simply boinging the rear end by hand.
Will have a ride-report and photos ASAP...

Wow, I was operating under the assumption that there was no after market shock available. Sometimes I love it when I'm wrong. My .95 front springs just showed up today, what a match this could be.
