I've seen this before with similar kawasaki jet skis, but I'm not sure what causes it. I can get the ski to rev-up fine out of the water but as soon as I go to ride it IN WATER, it only idles for about 20 seconds and eventually stalls. When I go to accelerate, it stalls. ???

 

I have a 84 Kaw 550 jet ski that does the same thing. I started it on my pickup and it had lots of power, and when I put it in my pond it was very doggy. Slow ride around the pond.

 

Any exhaust leaks??

Have you fixed the problem yet? What is the compression reading on your engine? It seems your problem is related to either the engine or jet pump impeller/bearing, but not the carburetion, since it happens only when there is a load (water). How easy is it to turn the jet pump shaft?

 

i had the same problem on my 04 750 XI.... it was the jet pump, easy to install just around $200 on ebay
