Default Engine problem

Dont know if its the motor or not. im not losing any power or leaking oil anywhere. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before and could if possibly be something in the cylinder heads that are screwed up. also the "clinging sound only starts when the bike is about 3500 rpm's. Before i buy a new motor just looking for some fellow kawi riders for there input.

its a 98 with 15000 miles on it. we took the bike apart and it seems that the cam shaft is hitting the top of the head cylinder cover when it spins

Check the cam chain and the tensioner. If the chain is stretched or the tensioner is f-uped it could be the cause.

I am just tossing out ideas here for I am not a mechanic but have suffered through theses problems in the past. I will be doing my own valves next time in stead of taking it into the shop.

Let us know once you find the specific problem or any other questions of course.
