stick a penny in the tread and see how deep it is. when your tread starts to get low then you know its time to change them cause youll start to lose grip and the tread wont re route water properly like it should (like most people ride in that rain any way) another good thing to go by is like 2-3k miles on a tire. depending on how well you keep car of them and what not

Bike tires have wear bars in them like car tires do, if your not hard on them, they will last a little bit longer then 3k.

Depends on the tire. Better tires ( michelin pilot power, bridgstone batleax, etc) may not last long depending on the type of riding you do. even if you think they might look good, if you come into a corner hot and every once in awhile find your rear end slipping, or riding out just a bit, ... time to get new ones YESTERDAY. Oh yea, NEVER LET YOUR FRONT TIRE GET 1/2 AS BAD AS THE BACK. You could have major problems on city roads when you get into a corner. hope it helped

like remo said, just ride it until it gets to the wear bars inbetween the tread. I have rode mine pretty hard, been at the racetrack just ebout every fri night, and ive got 4,600 mi on my back tire. its gone completely now, but it will last longer than 2,000 mi. it should last you at least 4,000 mi considering your new to riding

I have 3768 on the clock and my stock tires are still way good. No hard riding yet, but alot of highway miles under it. Right now my twisties are on/ off ramps [sm=lame.gif]

I put a hard 8k on my stock dunlops.. the front tire was very choppy and the rear was almost bald but it would of had tread if it wasnt for the smoke showes

I would say on the average you will get a safe 7k to a set of tires.. again depending on how you ride
